Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
Back in the 1980s my
grandfather was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He was a roofer by
trade and in one moment of chest pain, the doctor ordered him to stop climbing
ladders and not to exert himself. What a life changing event. As the few years
passed, his heart got weaker. My grandmother shared a story with me, that many
nights she would lay awake and watch him breath, praying his breathing would
not stop. One night, while deep in her worries, she heard a voice in her heart
say “Be still and know that I am God”. Although a very devote Christian, she
was not aware that this verse was in the bible. She later discovered it and
just knew it was God giving her the assurance that everything would be ok if
she left it in God’s hands.
