Luke 12:15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”
Have you ever had difficulty answering the question, “what do you want as a gift for ___?” At this point in my life, I'm saturated with stuff, things I wanted, things I needed, and some I have little use for. This Valentine's Day my wife and I agreed to just have a nice dinner. We both have everything we need and want. I did cheat and got her flowers and some chocolates….
We live in a world of stuff, available at the click of a button or swipe of a card. Maybe you've reached the point of saturation and still feel a void. Friend, your emptiness isn't a lack of stuff, it's a lack of Jesus Christ.
Satan does his best work putting things, desires, and pursuits in front to keep you preoccupied, distracting you from God's blessings of joy and spiritual fulfillment. I can honestly say I've been a victim of this snare, and can assure you more doesn't bring more happiness, but a longing for more. It's a never ending cycle that can be hard to break.
If this describes you, ask God to help you be filled with His desires as you pursue the perfect will for your life. God has eternal gifts that never break, grow old, but yield fruits in your life that mirror the image of Jesus Christ. That’s what a child of God should really desire!
