Depart from evil and
do good; Seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:14
While employed, I
always looked forward to those peaceful moments when nothing bad was happening,
everything ran smoothly, and my heart, mind and soul could rest. Those moments
were few and far between, and I allowed my circumstances to dictate whether I
was living in peace or turmoil. Maybe your peaceful moments come and go like
the wind.
Today’s verse
reminds us that we must always seek peace and pursue it. Allowing your current
circumstances to dictate if you’ll have peace is no way to live. God provides
peace in our hearts with His love, His presence, and most of all His forgiveness.
When we are at peace with God, everything else falls in line. Like a man
chasing down a much-needed taxi, we need to pursue God in every aspect of our
life: family, work, down time, hobbies, even our pleasures.
Commit your works to
the Lord, and He will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3
Peace with God is
simple, allowing Him to manage your life. For most of us, that can be
challenging, because we think we know how to live life. But God’s plans are
much more meaningful, purposeful, and require complete surrender of self. When
you let go and let God, He works through every minute of your day and you begin
to see His hand working on your behalf. In the process this inner peace
surrounds you and gives you the confidence to continue on with a surrendered
life in Christ.
When a man’s ways
please the Lord, HE makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs
16:7
Peace is hard to
come by these days. But, when you surrender your life to God, He brings peace in
areas you would never expect it, even your enemies live at peace with you. Pursue
God and you’ll find a peace like no other! God bless!
