He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young. Isaiah 40:11

During various times of one’s life, that person will have caretakers who watch over them, care for their needs, and love them. From birth until a child is on his own, parents, and other family members, take care of them. In adult years, that person might need medical attention, thus a doctor or nurses take care of them. If they live a long time, they might require visits from a home health nurse or live in a nursing home, there staff take care of their every need, just as they were cared for as a baby. But who watches over them during those in-between times?

I ran across todays’ verse while doing some devotional studies and thought what a beautiful verse and the perfect example of how God takes care of us every minute of our lives, providing parents, caregivers, and even during the times when we don’t think we need help, He’s always there watching over us. Take a moment and re-read Isaiah 40:11. Can you think of times when you’ve seen God’s hand provide care for you? Maybe it was a special doctor who was able to find a cure for your ailment, or you avoided a car crash by some miracle, or maybe a special person became a mentor in your life that shaped you into the person you are today.

I recall a time when I had taken a break from college and was working minimum wage jobs, with no direction for my life. My best friend and roommate gave me a serious talk about how I needed to get my life in order by going back to college and pursuing something more meaningful. From that moment I took his advice and chose the career path that provided me a very comfortable life and now I’m enjoying the benefits of retirement. I truly believe God put my friend in my life to guide me into God’s plan for my future.

All I can say is, God you are so good, loving, and always watching out for me. God is available to do the same for you if you are willing to let Him have control of your life, your future and eternal destiny. Give God the wheel of your life and I promise you, He’ll carry you through it with a nurturing love like no one else can provide.
