So then, my beloved
brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the
wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. James 1:19-20
If you follow the
stock market, you know it has been up and down basically on a daily basis. For
investors, especially those with their retirement savings locked up in stocks,
it can be an emotional rollercoaster, leaving one to stir up anger, fear, and
simply just loose it.
Today’s verses give
some great advice on how to handle the challenges and difficulties in life:
slow down! As seen in many videos and broadcasted in the news, people are losing
their cool and causing harm to others and themselves. Road rage has become the
norm, resulting in injury, even death. As humans, we are always watchful for
ourselves, but sometimes our pride can get us into a lot of trouble without much
effort, by the words we say, thoughts we entertain, and most of all our
actions.
There are plenty of
things to get upset about in this life. I can assure you I speak from
experience (and this blog is probably meant more for me than you). We just need
to slow down in life, trust that God has enough grace and mercy for our fellow
man, and let God dish out the judgement and revenge instead of us. When we do
this, we create an atmosphere of peace instead of anger, frustration, and
sometimes even hate. Letting go of the things that are out of our control and
letting God deal with them is a plus for you and the other guy who cut you off
at the intersection, said fighting words, or simply just annoyed you for no
good reason.
Be swift to hear,
slow to speak, slow to wrath, and see how your frustrations turn into
opportunities to show who is the Lord of your life! God bless!
