If you walk in My statues and keep My commandments, and perform them, then I will give you rain in its season that land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. Leviticus 26:3-4

Growing up on a farm, I can tell you that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to prepare fields for planting. From treating the soil to make sure it’s chemistry is correct, to removing weeds and planting at just the right time of year, it takes time and effort, but in the end will yield an abundant harvest. One critical element that is out of a farmer’s control is the weather. Without adequate rain, the crops will yield very little and all that effort will be wasted.

Today’s scripture is a message from God to the people of Israel, that if they obey God’s commandments He will bless them with rain so their crops can produce and provide food to sustain them. Bringing this closer to home, you might not have a garden, but your life is fertile ground for God’s blessings. Jesus Christ did all the hard work to prepare your life to receive those blessings through His sacrificial death on the cross. This very act opened the door to a personal relationship with God. All He asks that you live in complete obedience to His will for your life.

Your life is a field of faith, ready to yield a rich harvest. Are you willing to live for Him every day and perform the way He desires? Your life will yield much for the kingdom of God when you truly live for Him, as He blesses and nourishes your life for an abundant harvest, year after year.
