Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8
As you ride through
a busy town, look at all the advertisements displaying signs to tempt you to
turn off the road and do business with them. I can tell you they’ve worked on
me, anytime I see the “fresh donuts” red light come on, I’m steering into Krispy
Kreme!
As a child of God,
you are on a journey, walking on a narrow path of righteousness, following Christ
throughout the day. Unfortunately, satan is right there alongside your path,
hoping to distract you with his worthless temptations. He knows your
weaknesses, he knows when you are in need of that fulfillment and he flashes
his red sign of desire, hoping you’ll simply take one step in his direction and
follow you through til the sin has been committed. His reward is shame and
guilt, all the while whispering lies about your unshakable relationship with your
Savior.
No one is guilt free
from satan’s temptations. We all have sinned, but thank God He provided a way
for us to escape (1
Corinthians 10:13). The best advice I can give you is to keep your
blinders on, so you are not distracted by the temptations satan offers. Looking
way or avoiding places, things and people are the only way you’ll keep yourself
from turning off that narrow path God has provided you. Keep your faith strong,
your witness healthy and surrender your weakness into His care and He will
sustain you! God bless!
