Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:11
If you’ve ever worn
polarized glasses, you know that it filters out the light’s glare so you an see
more clearly. It’s especially true when you look into lake water, everything
becomes clearer. If you haven’t tried a pair on, go for it, the view is spectacular.
If you’ve studied
the bible at any great length, you know that God is love and Jesus spoke about
the importance of loving others. But, given this fleshly body, that can be quite
difficult. People can disappoint you, even hurt you or those whom you are very
close. Because of the negative experiences with others, the word love can
easily be replaced by hate, revenge, anger and shunting them from your life. That’s
not how God intended for His children to respond.
Only by the power of
God’s grace, can you truly see the world through the eyes of God’s love. God
uses those opportunities of disappointment to tender your heart so grace and
mercy can blossom from the ashes of being burned by others. The purest example of
this grace is Jesus hanging on the cross, asking His Father to forgive them (Luke
23:34).
If you’ve been
wounded and having a difficult time finding love in your vocabulary for this
person, ask God to help heal your heart and plant His seed of grace and mercy
in the spoils of your pain. He’ll do it and bless you and heal that relationship
far beyond anything you can do by your own strength and power. God bless!
