So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12
The character traits
of a person are usually developed from a young age, which are influenced by the
environment they grow up in and the people who have influence over them. While many
people are blessed to grow up in a positive living environment, others are exposed
to a negative environment which is clear by the amount of chaos in today’s
world.
And do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Romans 12:2
Maybe you are one of
those who did not have the best environment to grow up in and you struggle with
selfish desires, negative thinking and always argumentative with others. You
can slowly change that by transforming your mind after the characteristics of
Christ. A deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ is key to changing
your mindset. Through reading the bible, prayer and seeking after the will of
God, you will see a change in your perspective, a change of heart, and slowly,
you will develop the character traits found in today’s main scripture,
Colossians 3:12.
But above all these
things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. Colossians 3:14
It all starts in the
mind and heart. Once you transform your thinking into a heart after Christ, change
will occur and you’ll see attitudes of anger, hate and frustration dissolve and
transform into a spirit of love for others, yourself and God.
