So he (Simeon) came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him upon his arms and blessed God and said:

“Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel. Luke 2:27-32

 

As described in Luke 2:25, Simeon was righteous and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel (meaning: May I live to see the Messiah) and the Holy Spirit was upon him. The Holy Spirit revealed to him that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. All of those years, coming into the temple to praise God all the while waiting to see the Savior, Jesus. At last, his request was fulfilled and His spirit rejoiced, the Savior had arrived to save mankind.

 

There are people today looking for the Savior. They need to experience the saving grace of Jesus, they need a living hope as they navigate life, and the only way to see Jesus Christ is by the example you set in your walk with the Lord and sharing your faith.
