If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.     James 1:5

Oftentimes in life we come upon situations that generate questions. What should I do, whom shall I trust, why is this happening to me….the questions never stop and we try our hardest to figure it out, and still find ourselves asking the same questions over and over. Can you relate?

And I quote from my grandmother Nedra, “Our life is created to be centered on God, nor self.” Here lately I’ve been reminded that I don’t have all the answers and wisdom to figure things out. I need God. So, slowly as I release my worries, questions and troubles to Him, He fills that void with His wisdom, His encouragement and His peace. Oh, the peace of God, who can find anything more perfect than what He provides.

Maybe you are at the cross roads in the decision-making process and can’t seem to decide which way to go. Ask God for His wisdom so you can see things from a Godly perspective. He has the situation in His control. The more you seek His wisdom, the more you’ll see the direction He wants you to proceed! Boy I needed that this morning! Have an awesome day friend! God bless!

Cast all your anxiety on the Lord, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

You hear so many people talk about anxiety these days. Like everyone deals with it in some way and it appears more and more people deal with it every day. Anxiety wasn’t a commonly used word when I was growing up. About the only time I experienced anxiety is when I knew I would face my dad when I did something wrong…which didn’t happen that often thankfully! 😊

So where am I going with this, well..the older I’ve gotten, the more anxiety I’ve felt about things. Just the other day I was dealing with something and shaken to the core. It pretty much lasted all day, then it was gone. Prayer helped remove those feelings and worries, and God replaced them with His peace. It can be difficult to let go of those things, but the key is letting God have it and keeping your focus upon Him and not the thing that troubles you.

Casting your anxiety on the Lord is like throwing something heavy in a wheel barrel. It takes the weight off you and centers it on the tool that will help you move forward in life….it might always be there, but you will be able to manage with God’s help. Whatever troubles you, give it to God and He in turn will lighten your load as you journey through life! God bless!

When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; And my prayer went up to You, Into your holy temple. Jonah 2:7

Its hard these days to get someone to answer the phone. Most people like to text or simply not be bothered. There is one number I know of that always answers…9-1-1. The emergency number whenever there is a crisis. They get paid to answer the phone and send help. For the most part, you can count on them answering and responding to your cry for help.

There is another who is always available to answer your cry for help, God! As we read the story of Jonah, we know that he ran from God. God called him to do something for him and he split! God allowed a storm to come upon Jonah while in a boat and he was thrown overboard and swallowed up by a huge fish. 3 days in its belly was enough for him to know he needed help.

Maybe you are struggling and need help. God often allows storms to come our way to get our attention and reconnect with us through prayer and focusing our attention on Him and not our problem. One thing is for sure, God responds when you call upon Him. He is there, 24/7, and always has the best solution for your problem. Call Him today before you step any further towards trouble. He will keep you safe and protected! God bless!

Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying “You also were with Jesus of Galiliee.” But he denied it before them all, saying “I do not know what you are saying.” Matthew 26:69-70

This weekend I attended a production about the life and death of Jesus Christ. When Jesus was arrested and brought before the court, Peter, one of Jesus closest followers, was called out three times by different people, saying he was with Jesus. And every time Peter denied knowing Jesus.

How could Peter deny Jesus Christ? Peter followed Jesus every step of the way and learned from him, even said he would die for Jesus. Yet, when the pressure was upon him, Peter denied him to save himself from possible pain and rejection. I began to think about life and our relationship with Jesus.

How do we handle life when the pressure is on or faced with temptation? Its easy to do what we want in life, taking the easy road. It gives us a temporary pleasure and avoids pain. At the same time though, we deny our association and commitment to Jesus when we go against His standards of living. When we do, we miss His rich blessings and will most likely suffer the consequences of our actions in time.

I encourage you to walk cautiously through each day, keeping your focus on Jesus Christ and making right decisions. He will bless you for your obedience and commitment to Him. Don’t deny Him today, live righteously and find pleasure in your association with the Savior. God bless!

And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12

Happy Easter everyone. Today we celebrate Christ resurrection from the dead. His death on the cross was payment for the sins of mankind. God’s love for His creation was very evident on the day of Jesus death. He wanted to bridge that gap so we can easily come to Him with our praises, needs and intimacy.

Today’s verse is a great reminder of how we can live a Christ like life. By humbling ourselves, we make room for others to see Christ living in us. We are not ahead of the pack or trying to outshine others, but simply living our daily life, surrendering our pride so that the light of Christ can shine outward to the people around us. I think about Christ final minutes of life on the cross, He was in full view of those in attendance. Upon His death, the storm clouds came, the ground shook and people came to realize this humble man was the Son of God.

As you celebrate Easter today, find time to humble yourself so you can make room for Jesus Christ to work in your life and impact those around you. On the day of your death, it will be sweet to hear your Savior say…”Well done, my good and faithful servant!” God bless!

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

I read an article this morning entitled “What Happened Before the Big Bang.” Scientist have been trying to prove that our existence and the world in which we live all generated from space matter with things coming together, human life and earth was formed. One question asked in the article….what happened before the big bang? Their response…”we don’t know.” “We don’t know what we are looking for, until we have a theory.”

If you ask me, it takes more faith to believe in this cosmic story of some big bang and I developed out of space dust. Some of the most intelligent people in the world are still trying to answer the question about how we got here.

I can tell you without any doubt, there is a God and He created the world in which we live. And He created you…..”So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female.” Genesis 1:27. There you have it, the answer to life and how you were created. And the cool thing is we were created in the image of God. We are like Him in so many ways.

The answers to life, the world and space may be complex, but the simple truth is found in the existence of God and what He can do. Trust the word of God today and study the bible for life’s wisdom. IT has all the answers. Find it today by starting in the beginning! God bless!

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

The other day I was thinking about a personal relationship I have with someone very special to me. She and I have come to understand each other, including our strengths and weaknesses. As all couples, we've had a few bumps along the way, but grace was the cushion we needed to stead our relationship and move forward another day. Grace can only be obtained through the growth of love for each other.

Today's verse is the perfect example of God's love for us. He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our saving grace. Once accepted into your life, you have more grace than anyone human could ever provide. God's love for you goes beyond your weaknesses and failures. He loves you completely, just as you are. Yes, He is angry when you step off the center line of His will, but at the same time His love is enough to keep watching you and guiding you through the help of His Holy Spirit living inside of you and every believer.

Maybe you feel convicted and guilty of some past sins and you don't think God loves you any more. Friend, that is so far from the truth and it smells like one of Satan's lies. God forgives those who have accepted Jesus Christ into their life. From that point forward God's love and grace is enough to keep your name in the book of life! Walk in confidence knowing God's grace saved you and continues to keep you in His loving presence every day! God bless!

He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Matthew 26:39

Before Jesus crucifixion, He went to a quiet spot to pray to God. He knew His life’s purpose was about to be fulfilled, yet it overwhelmed Him by what He would have to endure leading up to His death. Yet in His final plea to God for a different path, He accepted God’s will and He allowed the plans to carry through, just as stated in the bible.

Jesus Christ calls us, His children, to follow Him in complete obedience. We oftentimes know the right thing to do, yet we want a different plan because we know it will either bring us less pain or make us happier in life. God’s ways aren’t always easy and oftentimes contradict someone’s reasonable thinking. But, by His standards, your life will be shielded from the effects of the world’s toxicity and dead-end roads that lead to years of loss and pain.

What has Jesus called you to do? It might take everything you’ve got to follow His instructions closely, but trust me….its worth everything you have to surrender and go through to get in the center of God’s will for your life. Take each step in the right direction and you’ll never go wrong in life! God bless!

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Over the past few weeks Satan has done all he can to disrupt the ease in my life. He has brought some chaotic times and the wounds of his attacks have been painful. So painful all I could do was drop to my knees and pray for God’s mercy and hand of protection. In almost an instant, I could feel God’s protective hand covering me and the weight was lifted. Since that moment I have kept asking myself why I haven’t prayed for His protection more often.

Submitting to God through obedience and remaining in a state of prayer is one way you can push back Satan. Yes, Satan can lob some long range missiles, but God can shield you from the fallout if you simply put your cares and trust in His hands.

What are you going through right now? Whatever it is, ask God for help. Draw close to Him through prayer, make sure you are living in His obedience and have confidence in knowing He has your back and whatever He allows to come your way will grow and shape you into a stronger child of God. Have a blessed and safe day friend!

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:14

Ever felt like you are never enough? Maybe it’s a parent or someone special in your life and no matter what you do, its never enough for them to appreciate you for who you are. I have talked to countless numbers of people who’ve shared with me their struggle to be accepted.

So often the barrier to someone’s acceptance of us is what we ourselves call a “flaw” that we might have. Maybe it’s a physical problem, a disability or an emotional issue. No matter what it is, it seems to keep that other person from accepting us for who we are.

Friend, I’ve got some great news! You were created by God for a purpose. What you consider a flaw or weakness was actually built into your life and that’s what makes you special. I recount in 2 Corinthians 12 the Apostle Paul plead with God to remove this “thorn in his flesh”..a messenger of Satan to buffet me. God’s response in verse 9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

God made NO mistakes when He made you! Although the flaws you see in yourself seem to taunt you, they are actually the foundation for you to stand tall and proud and acceptance of who you are. God accepts you, He made you in His perfect way and wisdom. Rejoice in His creation child of God! You are accepted by Him! God bless!

For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10

For the past month of so we’ve been dealing with my girlfriend’s mother who fell and had to spend time in the hospital and physical therapy rehab. Eventually she was released from the hospital and has been staying with her son. This coming week we will move her back into her house. But there is one condition to her going home…the use of her walker.

As I witnessed her gain her strength back and use the walker, I could see she moved better, had more confidence in every step and it kept her stable. That walker is a huge help for her, but like most elderly people, they don’t want to rely on a walker. Their pride gets in the way and they want to depend upon themselves to do what they’ve known all along…walking unassisted.

That leads me to today’s thought. “For when I am weak, then I am strong.”. Love this verse and really never truly comprehended its meaning until recently. You see, when you are at your weakest moment of life…emotionally, spiritually or physically, God will step in and provide what’s necessary to keep you moving through life. On one condition….if you allow Him to do this for you! Once you open the door to His strong hand, even in your weakest moment, you’ve got the strength of God on your side. Nothing can provide you strength to get you through the challenges of life like His strength.

Maybe you are going through a difficult time and your feel like you have no strength to carry on. Don’t carry that burden one more day alone. Give it over to God and let Him be your strength. He loves you and wants to help you on a daily basis. Remove the pride and let the strength of God make you stronger each and ever day! God bless!

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

In the later years of my grandfather’s life, my grandmother would stay awake at night and watch him sleep, concerned that he might stop breathing. Doctors diagnosed him with congestive heart failure in his early 60s and because of this, he could die at any moment. The bond between my grandparents was amazing and her love and adoration for him still moves my heart when I think about it today.

One night as she was watching over him and worrying herself sick, God spoke these simple words into her mind…”Be still and know that I am God.” After a brief talk with her pastor and he referenced this verse in the bible, she knew God had this situation under control and that He was with her and would help her when the time came for his passing. From that point on her heart was calmer after she put her burden upon God.

Maybe you are fretting over something that is out of your control. This thing, job or person is your life, yet for some reason there is trouble in the house and you don’t know what to do. Put your worries in the hands of God. No matter the outcome, He will help you through the difficult days of healing and gaining back your joy. Trust me, I know this all too well. God has NEVER let me down and He will do the same for you. Trust Him today! God bless!

Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17

One of the favorite things my girlfriend and I do is talk. We can talk for hours on end and never run out of things to say. Back and forth, we share the good, bad and the ugly things that happened that day at work and in our every day life. Our conversation is a two-way street, conversing back and forth.

Have you ever considered talking to God in the same fashion? If you are a child of God, you have access to Him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He lives in your life through the Holy Spirit and responds when you start talking to Him.

Talking to God is also a two-way street, you talk, then give Him time to respond. Oftentimes I hear people say they don’t hear back from God. I believe in those times He wants you to read His word, the Bible, for His response. The bible is God’s word and it provides all the wisdom, encouragement and guidance a person needs to navigate the Christian life. But, just in a conversation with another person, you have to pause to allow the other person to talk. Same with God, take time to hear from Him either through His Holy Spirit or the bible.

God’s talking back, are you listening?

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Truly, God does have a reason for the disappointments He allows in our life. He could prevent them, but He wants us to discover His purpose. His desire is that we will operate out of trust and let our circumstances bring glory to Him. The right response is to simply trust Him.

And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea, and it would obey you.”

Luke 17: 5-6

In today’s world we have a lot of faith in things like…trusting our employer will transfer our pay check to the bank, the engine will start on our vehicle, the jet we ride on will fly. We have to maintain a certain level of faith in things, even people, if we want to go thru life without worrying or losing our minds.

The same is true with the Lord. Once saved, you have the assurance of God’s presence in your life through His Holy Spirit. He guides you through each day, providing wisdom to make right choices, convicting you when a wrong choice has been made, shielding you from certain things and sustaining your strength (emotionally and physically) when the heat of the battle is ongoing. Yet, oftentimes we have more faith in worldly things and not so much with God. I truly believe the strength of our faith determines the portion of blessings we receive.

I can tell you over my lifetime my faith in God has been proven time and time again. As I’ve gotten older, my faith and trust in God has grown because of past experiences…seeing God’s hand work in certain situations. I can assure you, you can trust Him with everything. When you put your total dependence on Him, you open the door for God to work in your situation.

Faith in the Lord doesn’t take much. A mustard seed is just a little bigger than the end of a pen. If Jesus can relate the power of our faith to a mustard seed, then you know He can handle anything you give Him. But, you gotta have faith in Him and believe He will come through. Trust Him today with your problems and see Him at work. Your faith is the open door to receiving God’s blessings today!
