If it is possible,
as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Romans 12:18
As I get older, I
add to my list people who I’ve not had a positive experience with in life. This
list seems to get longer as time goes on. Although we might have had a rough
moment in time, I try to put those things behind me to live in peace with them.
A very few of them make this difficult, extremely difficult, but according to
God’s word, this is what I’m supposed to do. As a matter of fact, Jesus
instructed His disciples to always be ready to offer forgiveness to everyone,
with no limits. And one of the most challenging things is to love those who’ve
harmed me in the past. That’s a very tall order, but one God provides me
through His Holy Spirit.
Do not be overcome
by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21
If you are like most
human beings, you have a few enemies. As strange and difficult as it sounds,
return to them good. When you seek to revenge someone by evil means (evil
looks, gossip, vengeful actions, even hateful thoughts towards them), you
create a toxic environment for yourself and your heart hardens. And not just
hardens towards them, you become a bitter person to those around you. If this
is you, you are living in sin.
Maybe it’s time to
come clean and confess your sinful thoughts and actions, and ask God to forgive
you and help you have a heart like Jesus Christ. Jesus was the perfect example of
forgiveness and love as He hung on the cross, He prayed, “Father, forgive them
for they know not what they do”. Cleanse the bitter spirit within and come
clean with the help of The Holy Spirit. Leave the revenge up to God, He will
repay (Romans 12:19). You’ll have more peace in your life when you find
forgiveness and love in your heart. God bless!
