But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, for it was very large. Mark 16:4

An open door is a welcoming sight. A man opens the car door for his wife, an open door to a building welcomes people inside, an open door to a restroom is always a relief for those who need it, and a business whose management has an “open door” policy assures employees their voice is valued.

On the third day after Jesus’ death, Mary Magdalene, and Mary (mother of James and Salome) went to His tomb to put spices on His body.  To their amazement, the door to the tomb was open. Upon entry, they were met by an angel who announced that Jesus was no longer in the tomb, but had risen from death and is alive. Although their initial response was sadness because Jesus was gone, they soon witnessed Him, confirming that He truly was alive and well.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelations 3:20

On this Easter Sunday, we have much to celebrate about the open door to the tomb of Jesus. He is no longer there, but living in and through His followers. Today, Jesus stands at the door of every human being, knocking on the door to their heart, desiring to come in and be a part of their life. Is He knocking on your door today? Don’t delay, open your heart to Him and discover the beautiful things He offers you as a member of the family of God. Happy Easter everyone!
