“But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who send Me. John 15:21

In one of my monthly publications I receive, “The Voice of Martyrs”, I read about Christians who’ve surrendered their life to share the gospel with those outside the faith. Many of these people are severely persecuted for their faith and kicked out of their families, often mistreated and some have even died for their faith. The average person reading these stories are probably thinking they would not have the courage to go into uncharted territories to share the gospel. Some would simply ask why risk life.

Just like in battle, soldiers can’t just surrender, they must forge on, even though the ones alongside them die in the fight to advance the mission. These brave missionaries know the cost to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Unless someone is willing to give their all, how will those outside the faith know God the Father through Jesus Christ?

Your little world might not be as dramatic, but you are no less important than those on the front lines, risking their all to give the unknowing, hope of salvation. Every day you walk through life, touching the lives of those around you. Do they know God the Father and the loving sacrifice of Jesus? You should be quick to share the good news of Him who saved you! They won’t know unless you tell them through words and your actions. Share the good news today, they need to know the truth! God bless!

Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance. Matthew 3:8

When I was a teenager growing up on the farm, I would often help other farmers remove the weeds and volunteer corn that grew in soybean fields. Left to grow, those weeds would consume the soil’s nutrients and provide less for the intended crop. Once the weeds and volunteer corn were removed, there was a beautiful looking field and improved yield of soybeans.

As a child of God, you should always be weeding out the sinfulness from your life. Plucking out the sin should provide a better yield of God’s blessings. God doesn’t approve of sin, nor will he occupy parts of your life blanketed in sinful behavior. He simply cannot be in its presence due to His holiness.

If you want God’s blessings in all areas of your life, you must ask for God’s forgiveness and seek His help when changing your behavior to a more reverent and God honoring one. God will bless you for your desire to grow the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

What sinful patterns of behavior seem to grow uncontrolled in your life? Ask God to help you weed those out and never go back to the old way of living. God has the right tools to produce a bountiful harvest of blessings and spiritual fruit in your life. Let Him have His way in your life today! God bless!

And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.” Luke 23:2

Ever feel like everyone is against you? As a child of God, you are a foreigner in this world (1 Peter 2:11) You are a stand out from popular beliefs and culture.  And that’s ok. As a result of your Christian beliefs and lifestyle, you can expect to be ridiculed, even face persecution for your faith (John 16:33).

Today’s passage is just one of the humiliating things Jesus Christ faced as He was sent to the cross. Just days before people followed Him, worshiped Him and found security in His presence. Yet, a turn of events brought out the evilness of mankind, which in reality was the sole purpose for Jesus brief visit to earth; to save mankind from his sins.

Accusations and trials this world throws at you might seem unjust and without reason, but hold you heard up high, as victory comes through Jesus Christ. The benefits of His eternal reward for your loyalty far exceeds the momentary pain you might encounter while living out your faith. Pray, asking God to help sustain your faith, even when you are the only one standing for what is right. God will bless and reward your faithfulness! God bless!

But Jesus answered him, saying “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luke 4:4

Following the baptism of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit led him into the wilderness for 40 days, and He ate nothing. After the 40 days, satan tempted Him by challenging Him to turn a stone into bread. Jesus passed this test, as noted in today’s scripture above. 40 days without food is a miracle in itself. I’m starving after a few hours of not eating. But Jesus resisted the temptation to fulfill his desire for a momentary pleasure.

As humans, we have desires, some are good and some are not good for us. That is why you should always seek after God’s wisdom before pursuing anything of your liking, whether that is a relationship, significant purchase, decision about a new job or relocating to another area. The warning in your desires is satan’s temptations. He attacks at your weakest moment. When the hunger for that desire is at its peak, that is when he encourages you to pursue.

If the desire is outside God’s will, it will usually be followed by regret, chaos in life and shame. Who wants to carry those burdens around?? Seek after Godly wisdom first before pursing your passions and desires. God wants to give you His best, but He knows the capacity of your blessings, so don’t exceed what’s outside His plan for your life! God bless!

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angles, but have not love, I have become a sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1

These days, people’s personal opinions have more avenues to be shared. Social media is one way to share your views, which opens the door to debates, oftentimes extreme debates on both sides of the issue. After reading a few, I can literally feel the hate in people’s words and you’ve got to ask, where’s the love for mankind?

Today’s passage is a good reminder for Christians, it’s ok to share your opinions and thoughts, but do so out of love, not hate. God is love (1 John 4:7) and He expects His children to follow suit, to love others unconditionally. People can be quick to judge others because of their differing beliefs, but Jesus says to leave judgement up to Him (Romans 12:19). You are to reflect the character of Jesus Christ, and that primary reflection is a heart of love that reaches even the vilest person.

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:8

If you find people’s differing opinions generate hate and anger, then maybe you need to go back and rethink your relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no room for hate in Heaven, and Jesus holds His children accountable for hating someone. As a matter of fact, He compares hate to murder (1 John 3:15).

Your opinion matters, and so does everyone elses. Don’t let the difference spoil the freedom of speech by hating someone. Love others and let that love bring unity to everyone. The world needs more lovers! God bless!

But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good in order to bring it about as it is this day to save many people alive. Genesis 50:20

Just the other day I saw someone’s post whose heart was “tore to pieces” because the love of her life had left her. Just two days prior she had posted how much she loved this man and their life together was perfect. Unfortunately, her hopes and dreams with this fella vanished as he walked out the door.

No doubt, people will disappoint and fail you. It happens often. Today’s passage comes from the story of Joseph, whose brothers were jealous of him and sold him into slavery. Joseph went for years, treated as a slave, falsely accused and thrown into a prison for a crime he never committed. Yet in the end, he came out victorious as he became a ruler of the land, only second to King Pharoah. God had plans to prosper Joseph, but he had to go through a period of difficulty and trust God in the process.

Maybe you have been the victim of unjust accusation or maybe you’ve been left in shambles, trying to put together the pieces of your heart. Just know that God has already seen and planned for your crises and He will carry you through this difficulty and bring you on the other side with blessings and great rewards for your faithfulness to Him. God bless!

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelations 3:20

Over the past few days my sister and her friend have been here visiting from Illinois. During this time, we’ve been able to get together with my kids. Unfortunately not all at the same time, but in groups, we’ve been able to fellowship and enjoy each other’s company. One of the highlights is gathering around the dinner table (restaurant) and eat, laugh and recall old memories of our lives together. It’s been an awesome and fun past few days and one I will treasure for a long time.

One of the beautiful things about Jesus Christ is He stands ready to come to us and enjoy a feast of blessings and to make special memories in our walk with Him. All you have to do is take the first step to open the door to your heart and allow Him to come in and share life with you. I can’t tell you how much He has impacted my life. He has been there in the good times and bad, helping me through difficult times and carrying me to the highest points of my life.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

This opportunity is open to you as well! Ask Him to come into your life and feast on the rich and bountiful blessings He has in store, just for you! He created every part of your being, so why not allow Him to lead you through life, lean on His wisdom, strength and encouragement. Life is a feast and with Him you won’t leave this world without wonderful memories and a life impactful to your earthly family! God bless!

As newborn babies, desire pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. 1 Peter 2:2

My sweet grandson is growing! We got to see him and his parents (my son and daughter in law) yesterday. He is fed baby formula with a special additive for brain development. After a month and half of life this side of the womb, he is gaining weight and changing on a daily basis. Precious little man! Pappa is proud and so happy!!

What you feed your mind with, comes out in word and actions. There is plenty to feed upon these days…..social media, fictional books, movies, music and good ole conversation. Once the brain absorbs this data, it transforms the mind and actions of those who receive it.

Today’s verse is a good reminder that as Christians, we too should take in the pure word of God. Nothing of this world has any real long-term value, so why spend hours nourishing your mind on useless entertainment when you can truly benefit your life with the good things and wisdom of God? It’s ok to live in this world, but don’t let it shape your life where you fit in (1 Peter 2:11).

“and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

If you are going to grow spiritually, you must nourish your mind with the wisdom and encouraging words He’s spoken. Take time each day to feed upon it and transform your life into the character of Jesus. God bless!

And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet, do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15

There will be people in your life who you’ve known either for a short time or a lifetime. People change over time, some for the better and some worse. Today’s scripture encouraged fellow Christians to separate themselves from those who chose a path opposite of God’s standards of living. By doing so it kept them from poisoning the fruit of fellow believers.

This is true for believers today. Your relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important one you can have. Protecting that from the distorted beliefs of others and careless lifestyle by backsliders is key to maintaining your faith and view of God. There is nothing wrong with putting distance between you and these misguided brothers and sisters in Christ. It doesn’t make you any better than them, it simply is an act to protect the precious and pure relationship you have with your Savior.

Prayer for that person is the one thing you can do to draw God’s attention to them to restore them back in good standing. We need to watch out for one another, but do so from a distance. God will bless you for your faithfulness! God bless!

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him. Nahum 1:7

One of the awesome things I love about my church is the openness of the alter, for people to come down and kneel to pray and ask God for help. At times the alter is full of people. There are a number of people who frequent the alter every week. They know the cleansing and healing power of coming humbly before the Lord in prayer.

Does God know how much you trust Him? How many times have you gone before the Lord in prayer when trouble comes? Far too often, people’s automatic response is to act out in agony or fear when life’s disruptions knock at their door. And what’s worse, they begin to tackle the issues alone, and don’t bother to seek after God’s help. When that happens, they waste precious resources that are available to them, 24/7.

God doesn’t want His children to live in fear, worry or be plagued with anxiety. He wants them to come to Him whenever the waves of adversity rock the boat. How about you, are you willing to ask for God’s help in a time of need? Never discredit the powerful resources God has at His very word. He will help you. Come to Him every time, He’s listening and wants to know you on a deeper and personal level so it’s automatic when you have a need and He knows it. God bless!

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30

If you’ve driven much, you’ve probably encountered a “check engine” warning light. That signifies something is wrong with the vehicle and it’s best to get it checked out. Sometimes the warning indicator flashes red, which means to stop and turn off the engine. That is cause for serious concern, and by continuing on, could cause extensive damage to your car and expensive to repair.

Thankfully God has given each Christian His Holy Spirit. His Spirit resides in the life of each believer and is there to pray on our behalf (Romans 8:26), but most of all, He monitors our life and alerts us when we are headed for spiritual disaster (1 Corinthians 10:13). God will never tempt you to sin, but He will monitor your path and throw up a warning sign that something bad is about to happen. It’s up to YOU to stop and turn the other way. Can you recall times in your life when your spiritual “check engine” light came on? I can, and in my younger days, I regrettably continued and paid for my sinful behavior. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to yield to that warning and it’s kept me running smoothly down the path of life.

Don’t ignore God’s warnings. He gave you His Spirit for help and protection. Without it, you’ll have difficulty staying within His will and God’s blessings will be held back until you repent and fall back in His perfect will for your life. God bless!

Why do You stand afar off, O Lord? Why do You hide in times of trouble? Psalm 10:1

There have been times in my life when I went through difficult times and it appeared God had abandoned me. It seemed like utter silence and I had no idea what to do. Maybe you too have encountered that feeling. That was certainly the thoughts and feelings of the writer of Psalm 10, as he and many of the Israelites had to survive in the desert for a period of time before God gave them permission to enter into the Promised Land.

And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

From the early times after creation until this present day, God is always going ahead of His people, making a way for them, addressing the issues before we get there, so our paths are smooth and unhindered (Isaiah 45:2). I can tell you from my personal experience, God is always two steps ahead of me. There are bad things that could have happened and they didn’t, simply because God was working in my future and knew the dangers that lurked ahead. I simply was responsible to continue my walk forward thru life, in complete obedience and trust in Him. Every single time, it works out like that, and it will for you too.

You are never alone as a child of God. He is always there with you, but the uncertainty of your situation should never question His presence, just trust that He is working on your behalf and wants you to continue to walk thru it with faith. God bless!

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19

Who do you trust in your life? There are just a few people that I know who have gained my trust, in word and deed, they have given me the proof I need to trust them. In today’s world, that’s pretty good if you can trust more than a handful of people. But when one you’ve trusted, lets you down, the pain runs deep and trust becomes a rare commodity.

In today’s scripture, Peter encourages people to trust in the biblical prophecies and word of God. All biblical scripture was inspired by God, not man (2 Peter 1:21). So you can trust what is written in the bible to help you navigate this life. Nothing written is a lie, deceitful or cause for confusion. It’s meant to encourage and foster a deeper relationship with God.

Like a light, shining in the darkness, it should give you the confidence and peace to walk through the difficult trials of life, walk in obedience amongst the lure of temptation and most of guide you to be a Christlike example for the world to see what your Savior has done for thee! When you find it difficult to trust, dig into God’s word and find confidence in the scriptures. God bless!

As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. 2 Peter 1:3

Last night we had storms come through our area knocking down trees and taking down power lines….many were out of power throughout the storm. With the warm temperatures, I’m sure many homes were hot!

One thing is for certain, in the life of a Christian, you are never short of God’s power to help you in life. Even when the storms come: health crises, marital problems, death of a loved one, conflict with family members…all of these things can bring you to your knees, BUT GOD! He has the power and resources available to sustain you, even when you have no strength to carry on. Time and time again I hear of fellow brothers and sisters in Christ suffering through painful experiences, yet their faith stays strong and they use those opportunities to be a shining light to others who are outside the faith.

Maybe you are going through something that has brought you to your knees, feeling powerless and hopeless. Call upon the Lord for strength and confidence to weather through the storm and come out on the other side with God’s help and restore your hope for tomorrow. He will do it! God bless!

But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Mattew 24:43

Have you ever had something happen in your life that you wish you were better prepared? Maybe it’s an unexpected audit of your work, a pop quiz at school….there are many things that happen in life that can catch you off guard and after it happens, it’s too late to deal with it.

There is one thing certain in life, Jesus Christ will return for His people. Those who’ve chosen to accept Jesus Christ and follow Him will be gathered up and taken from this foreign land, we call earth. Those left behind will encounter great tribulation like nothing ever experienced before. It will be a horrible time to be on planet earth. And if you seriously consider the present time, it’s not hard to figure out we are close to that moment than ever before.

Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Matthew 24:44

Straight from the words of Jesus Christ Himself. Be ready! No one knows the time of His return, but it’s certain that His appearance will surprise many. Will you be ready?

God has a plan for your life called “His will”. His plan for your life fits perfectly with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to reach a lost and dying world of people searching for hope, and assurance of a bright future. The only hope in this unstable world is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Nothing is uncertain when you walk in His perfect will for your life.

If you’ve pushed off the desire to follow Him, maybe today is the right time to change your attitude and accept His offer of salvation, forgiveness of sins and enter into an eternal relationship with Him. Today is the day of salvation, don’t let another moment pass you by, time is running out. God bless!

Let us hold fast the confessions of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

Since the time of Jesus Christ until today, Christians face criticism, persecution and even death for their faith in Him. It was especially true for the Jewish community with those who accepted Jesus Christ into their life and followed His ways. The negative response from family members who turned against them was great and many had to cut ties with close relatives, just to maintain their faith.

Today’s scripture is relevant for today’s Christian. Society has moved further away from God’s standards of living and is open to just about anything. In the face of criticism, YOU should continue to stand up for what you believe and feel confident in your faith. You most likely will offend others by your beliefs, but people need to know the truth, and you can help them by how you live your life, the things you say and share on social media.

The criticism, even persecution you might face for your faith is worth the blessings God will shower upon you for your unwavering commitment to Him. He is faithful and will help you when faced with opposition. Hold fast to your confessions of hope and the promise of His faithfulness to His children! God bless!

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Ephesians 5:6

If you spend much time on social media, you are well aware of the varying opinions and it seems everyone has an answer to people’s problems. But the real question is, who to believe? Some things you read and hear might sound logical and make sense to you, but the words must be checked for validity if you want to lead yourself down the right path.

People’s advice on spiritual matters can really get foggy. I’ve heard so many ideas and beliefs about God and what Jesus Christ did on earth, that makes me shake my head, wondering how some can be so much “in the dark” on their understanding of the gospel.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

Satan does a good job of creating confusion amongst people, even those who profess to be a Christian can be misled. That is why it’s important to “test the spirits”. How? By checking their words against the bible. If they don’t line up, it would be very wise to spend less time listening to their advice, and put your focus in God’s word. You’ll never go wrong when you seek after the wisdom of God.

Study the scriptures, and pray for specific wisdom as you navigate life. Everyone has advice, and some might sound good and to your liking, but the gospel truth will always lead you to the way ever lasting. God bless!

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

I recall many times my mother in law saying, “everything comes clean on wash day”. If you sit and really think into those words, they have a deeper meaning than what’s on the surface. Ever have a stain on your good shirt and you prepare it for wash by spraying a stain remover on it? There is some suspense and anxiety as you wait to see if it actually removed the stain.

Compare this to the life of a Christian. Once you’ve confessed your sins and accepted Jesus Christ into your life, your sins are forgiven. Not only that, but you have the stain fighting power to remove those ugly sins that seem to resurface in your mind, sometimes daily.

I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. Isaiah 43:25

These powerful words of God speak volumes to His desire to forgive and forget your past sins, even the worst sins. If God doesn’t want to remember them, why should you?

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12

Everything has come clean on wash day! Your sins are forgiven. Confession removes them from God’s memory and they should only serve as a “lesson learned” not to do that anymore. Don’t let your past mistakes weigh you down. Your Father has all the grace and mercy needed to remove those nasty blemishes and present you as a spotless child of God. God bless!

And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. Matthew 14:14

One thing Jesus did throughout His life was perform miracles by healing people He met. The bible records many instances of His healing power, but the truth is He healed thousands of people over the course of His travels. Why? Not for fame, not to show proof that He is God’s Son, but because He had compassion for people. God’s love for His creation, mankind, is the main reason for sending Jesus to interact with people and save them from their sins.

That same compassion for people should be carried out through His people, you and me! As a child of God, you have the Holy Spirit living inside you. Your heart should feel His Spirit prompting you to help others in need. Just like in biblical days, there is a great multitude of people within the reaches of YOUR influence. Are you touching their lives with the healing power of God?

…for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there”, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20

You might not feel worthy of God’s power working through you or have belief it can happen, but it can. Jesus stated in Matthew 17:20 that if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you can move mountains. That seems impossible, but with God’s help anything is possible. The key ingredient is your faith, if you are willing to use it to accomplish the will of God.

There is a great multitude of people out there, just waiting to experience the compassion and love of Jesus Christ. It’s up to you to show them that love that was shown you through God’s great grace and mercy. Show them the light that shines bright in your life and help the sick and needy experience your loving, compassionate Savior! God bless!

The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness. Proverbs 16:31

Yesterday we celebrated my mother in law’s birthday at the nursing home. She turns 91 this weekend. As we all sat there and visited, I listened to her brief words. Some of the things she said had little nuggets of wisdom, while others were just words to fill the void of quietness.

So often we discount the words of the elderly. We think we’ve lived enough life to have experience, yet the wise people of this age never stop learning. The benefit of hearing out what the gray-haired have to say is free wisdom from those who’ve gone before us and lived through those mistakes, those challenging situations and worked through some of life’s crises. If only we’ll heed their words and advice, we might just save ourselves a lot of trouble and headaches down the road. I easily recall one piece of advice given to me years ago and I ignored it. I’m still paying for that decision not to heed their advice.

Who in your life has gray hair? Listen to what they have to say! They might not make sense at times, they might have offended you in the past, but they have lived life for a long time and they’ve survived. As you add years to your life, you too can share your life’s experiences with the younger crowd and hopefully benefit them. Listen to the elderly, your next decision in life might benefit from their wisdom! God bless!

yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you-being such as one as Paul, the aged and now a prisoner of Jesus Christ, I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in chains. Philemon verses 9-10

The book of Philemon is only 2 pages in the bible, only 1 chapter with 25 verses. It accounts for Paul (who was in prison for preaching the gospel), who met Onesimus, a run-away slave, who met Paul, received the message of Jesus Christ and became a fellow believer. While in prison, Onesimus provided fellowship with Paul and encouraged him. As much as Paul wanted Onesimus to stick around, he knew the right thing to do was encourage him to return to his master. Paul wrote Philemon, the slave’s master, and encouraged him to receive back Onesimus and show grace and mercy to him, who experienced a change in his life for the good.

What good came from Onesimus leaving his duty as a slave? He crossed paths with Paul, who influenced him to change his life and become a dedicated Christian. His heart was transformed during his time of disobedience. A good thing happened in a bad situation. As Onesimus cautiously walked back to his slave master, he carried the letter Paul had written on his account, asking Philemon to show grace and mercy. Hopefully Philemon did the right thing by receiving him back with grace and saw a new man, loyal to the faith.

If you’ve experienced the blessings of being a parent, I’m sure you have had times when your child rebelled, maybe even ran away. The fear and anger they experienced in the process of rebellion provides an opportunity for you to exhibit the grace and mercy shown you by Jesus Christ. Don’t get me wrong, punishment should be the consequence of wrong doing, but how you administer those tools of discipline can be the very thing that helps transform that child’s heart into one of trust in you, as their caregiver.

Two wrongs don’t make anything right. So turn the wrong into an act of grace, mercy and love and leave the rest in God’s hands as He works in your situation. This goes for other adults too. Whoever has wronged you, is a way to return back a reflection of Jesus Christ character. God bless!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

When you encounter problems in life, how do you respond? Most of us go into crisis management mode and try to solve the issue quickly so we can move past the pain of the experience. But when we hurry through the problem, something is usually missed or we do or say something out of haste and come to regret it later.

I can tell you after experiencing God in my life over the years, the best thing I’ve done when trouble comes my way is stop and pray over the issue. When I do, I allow God to take it from me and respond in His all knowing way with great wisdom and allow Him to guide me through it, one step at a time. I’ve NEVER regrated turning it over to Him. And because of that, I can sleep a little better knowing God has my back on this issue and will help me the next day as more comes my way.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12

Yesterday I saw a commercial where a young lady opened up to say that in today’s world there is no such thing as normal and you can find your “normal” through the help of her website. I will admit, today’s world seems to be in a state of chaos and somewhere truth has been diluted down with personal views and opinions. Where there is one person’s view, there is another whose views are just the extreme opposite. I fear the direction we are headed will result in a society without conviction, regulation, law and order. And if you look at what’s happening in todays world we might be there now.

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness. Isaiah 5:20

God is truth and in Him there is no darkness or evilness. He created you in His image and purpose to be conformed into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29).Your job is to live within God’s standards, written in the bible, and follow in obedience. His ways are not to burden you or cause you trouble, but to provide safety and guidance as you navigate through this world. But the key ingredient is your acceptance of His word and trust Him to help you.

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace. 1 Corinthians 14:33

If you are confused about your life, don’t just accept what you hear or read on social media, find truth in God’s word and open your heart to His wisdom. He will never lead you astray. If your feelings, emotions, and opinions counter the wisdom of God, ask Him to help you find the truth and soften your heart to accept the truth. Find your true normal today in God’s word!

In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go and prepare a place for you. John 14:2

A few days ago my wife and I engaged in a conversation with another couple about their experience in buying a new house. The excitement of a new home, yet the dread of “the move” left the husband questioning if it was worth the effort. The wife was excited because it was a change and the newness of this new home was the motivation she needed to encourage her husband to sign the papers. They made the purchase, made the move and they are both happy with their decision.

As a child of God, you have a new home waiting for you in Heaven. The excitement of being in a place (Revelation 21:4) where there is no more sadness, tears or sin is very welcoming, and even hard to imagine, but it’s a real place and you’ll be there. But the dread of getting there might leave you feeling fearful with the thought of death. Quite understandable, but the truth is this death is the beginning of a new life (John 11:25). Death is a momentary thing that opens the door to your new mansion in Heaven. Fearing death should be the furthest thing from your mind.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

We all have an expiration date on planet earth. No one knows the day and time, so it’s a good idea to prepare for this new home God has prepared for you. Make your life right with God by accepting Jesus Christ into your life, asking for His forgiveness of sins and living for Him every day. Share your faith with friends and loved ones so you know they’ll be your neighbors in Heaven. Finally, trust the Lord with your life’s journey. He takes care of you on earth and has blessed you with the necessary resources to get you through this life. His will for your life is to prepare you for eternity, so don’t discredit what you experience here and now. Your life is in the development stage, your journey home may be long, but it’s secure in Him. God bless!

Judge not, that you be not judged. Matthew 7:1

I just read about the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s 75 years in power. The news article broke down each family member of the Royal family and their failings and bad choices they’ve made over the years. The article certainly opened the door to personal judgement of this family.

It’s easy to judge people these days, because everyone has their own set of standards how “life should be”. And people use this standard to judge and criticize others, whose lives are opposite. To be transparent, I struggle with this issue as well and looking back it’s very toxic to the soul.

For with what judgement you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. Matthew 7:2

Jesus was pretty clear when He stated the verse above. The same measure I use to judge, will be used on me. Guilty as charged! No doubt, we all fall short of God’s standards, and when we judge the faults of others, we show no grace and mercy. As a child of God, your sins, your failings your poor choices are washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ. Thank God for the blood that covers our trespasses.

Andy why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eyes, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Matthew 7:3

The best advice is to “stay in your lane”.  We all have and have had troubles in our past. No one is perfect, and I can attest to that myself. We should be busy taking care of our personal life and not worry and judge the lives of others. If someone is having issues, best thing you can do is lift them up in prayer and let God take care of their issues….besides, He intimately knows their situation. God bless!

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

I recently read that a local school was going to make their students wear uniforms this next school year. I’m sure that won’t go over well with some people, but at least everyone will be dressed the same and look respectful. I myself wear a uniform for my work and to me, they stand out amongst others. They tell the story of who I work for and the purpose of my employment.

As a Christian, you should wear Jesus Christ every day in your actions and words. The daily interactions you have with others should leave no doubt that you are a child of God.  Unfortunately, many Christians go through life without any indication they are a believer in Jesus and go so far as to model the behavior of those outside the faith, just simply to “fit in”.

And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:17

The truth is, the worldly ways will one day pass away, you as well. But the one thing that will never end is your faith in Jesus Christ. Why not invest your focus, your desires and your love in Him. Those worldly pleasures might seem enticing, but truth is they will leave you wanting more to the point that your total focus will be turned in the opposite direction of Jesus, leaving you vulnerable to satan’s lies and deceit.

Reality check! Does your life reflect the character of your Savior? You have an eternal light inside of you that will never go out, why not open your life to the will of God and let that light change the lives of those around you. God bless!

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  Ephesians 4:1-3

In this fast paced, technologically advanced society, it can be difficult to keep a calm, steady, humble spirit. The stresses people work under are oftentimes extreme which puts one in an emotional state, quick to temper and looking out for number 1. If this is you, it’s time to reset your spirit.

Today’s passage provides the foundation for every child of God in the way they should live on a day-to-day basis. A common phrase I recall growing up was “live by the book”. The standards set forth in God’s word are there not to hinder your life, but to help you maintain that Christ like attitude, temperament and dealings with people. Its purpose is to yield a fruitful Christian and to keep them steady in their faith. Jesus Christ lived it, experienced the same pressures and temptations you face and He never wavered in His pursuit of a reverent life.

I encourage you to write down today’s scripture or simply screen shot it and keep it handy to refer to throughout the day. Whenever you have a decision to make, reference the scripture and heed it’s advice so you’ll make the right choice, that brings honor to God. Have a blessed day!

Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy, now you have received God’s mercy. 1 Peter 2:10

Do you consider yourself a child of God? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? If so, you are a child of God and your name is written in the Lamb’s book of Life. Your status gives you the identity of God’s people and the mercy shown to you is great. Jesus saved you from an eternal judgement to Hell. For that, you should be thankful and honor Him by living this life you have been called to live.

But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 1 Peter 1:15

Your identity as a child of God goes much further than your status. God calls you to live a life of holiness, living to please Him in everything you do. Every action, thought and word spoken should bring honor to Him. How do you get to that point of living a holy life?

Just know that on your own, it’s impossible to please the Lord. Your fleshly body is bent towards sin and the only way to break it, is to transform your mind (Romans 12:2). Devoting yourself in prayer and bible reading will help transform your mind into the mindset of God. A willing heart is needed to change your ways that reflect the character of Jesus and the continual quest to live an obedient life will produce the fruits of the spirit.

Your life, as a child of God, is a gift and should be honored by living a fruitful life in Christ. Start each day with the goal of living a life that reflects the nature of Jesus so the world can see your light of hope. God bless!
