As newborn babies, desire pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. 1 Peter 2:2
My sweet grandson is
growing! We got to see him and his parents (my son and daughter in law) yesterday.
He is fed baby formula with a special additive for brain development. After a
month and half of life this side of the womb, he is gaining weight and changing
on a daily basis. Precious little man! Pappa is proud and so happy!!
What you feed your
mind with, comes out in word and actions. There is plenty to feed upon these
days…..social media, fictional books, movies, music and good ole conversation. Once
the brain absorbs this data, it transforms the mind and actions of those who
receive it.
Today’s verse is a
good reminder that as Christians, we too should take in the pure word of God.
Nothing of this world has any real long-term value, so why spend hours nourishing
your mind on useless entertainment when you can truly benefit your life with
the good things and wisdom of God? It’s ok to live in this world, but don’t let
it shape your life where you fit in (1
Peter 2:11).
“and do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that
you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans
12:2
If you are going to
grow spiritually, you must nourish your mind with the wisdom and encouraging
words He’s spoken. Take time each day to feed upon it and transform your life into
the character of Jesus. God bless!
