If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
I recall many times
my mother in law saying, “everything comes clean on wash day”. If you sit and
really think into those words, they have a deeper meaning than what’s on the
surface. Ever have a stain on your good shirt and you prepare it for wash by spraying
a stain remover on it? There is some suspense and anxiety as you wait to see if
it actually removed the stain.
Compare this to the
life of a Christian. Once you’ve confessed your sins and accepted Jesus Christ
into your life, your sins are forgiven. Not only that, but you have the stain
fighting power to remove those ugly sins that seem to resurface in your mind,
sometimes daily.
I, even I, am He who
blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your
sins. Isaiah 43:25
These powerful words
of God speak volumes to His desire to forgive and forget your past sins, even
the worst sins. If God doesn’t want to remember them, why should you?
As far as the east
is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm
103:12
Everything has come
clean on wash day! Your sins are forgiven. Confession removes them from God’s
memory and they should only serve as a “lesson learned” not to do that anymore.
Don’t let your past mistakes weigh you down. Your Father has all the grace and
mercy needed to remove those nasty blemishes and present you as a spotless
child of God. God bless!
