For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20
Here lately I’ve
known several people who have left the United States and moved to other
countries. Because they are fed up with what’s happening in America or they are
seeking a better life, they have changed zip codes in hopes of a better life.
As a child of God,
your citizenship is in heaven; but for the time being, your place of residency
is where you currently live. Your living accomodations and things around you
might not be the best, but its where God has placed you and your focus should
be heaven bound.
For to me, to live
is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean
fruit from my labor. Philippians 1:21-22
Paul, a disciple,
had a mission to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. He suffered for the
cause, oftentimes giving up personal conveniences to accomplish God’s mission. Although
you may not understand it now, your residency is on God’s mission field and
your mission is to model after Christ on a daily basis so the world can see His
character and find hope through salvation in Jesus Christ.
God has a plan for
your life, right where you are. The sacrifices you make to accomplish God’s
mission will yield much fruit from your labor of love and obedience to the
Lord. Hang in there friend, Jesus Christ
is preparing your eternal home (John
14:2); your passport to Heaven won’t be ready until you finish His work.
God bless!
