For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4: 15-16

Have you ever been on a first time date and found it to be miserable. Maybe it was the first impression, lack of communication, awkwardness or it just didn’t turn out the way you had hoped. Once you realize things aren’t good, all you want to do is end it quickly and move on.

If you think about it, sin is like that first date (or blind date). It looks appealing and has your attention and excitement. But once you go through the motions, you realize it did nothing for you, possibly hurt you in some way, even leaving some long term effects in your life. As you are well aware, everyone has their own weaknesses and Satan knows which cheese to tempt you, so you’ll come out of your protective hole and take a bite. The struggle is so real and can leave you feeling helpless.

I can assure you our Savior, Jesus Christ, lived 33 years and was tempted by Satan at every turn. He was able to sustain those moments when sin and temptation looked so good. How did He remain faithful, by quoting scripture and keeping prayed up. One advantage, He personally knew the benefits of Heaven and I’m sure that was His greatest motivator to stay sin free.

Although your trip to Heaven doesn’t come til death,  you can have the assurance that your vehicle to Heaven knows your struggles and is willing to help strengthen you, so you can overcome temptation when it faces you at your weakest moments. Stay prayed up, memorize scripture and have assurance knowing your obedience will bring far more blessings than taking one bite of that tempting moment of sin. God bless!
